Sigma Kappa was founded in 1874 at Colby College in Maine by 5 collegiate women. The Gamma Kappa Chapter of Sigma Kappa was founded at SIUC in 1955. They uphold a tradition of acheivement. They have won homecoming queen 18 out of 21 years. They won 2nd place in Greek Sing in the past year and won numerous Theta Xi Varienty Shows. Sigma Kappa received first place in the Ebony and Ivory Step Show two years in a row. They also won Greek Goddess of 2008. Sigma Kappa is the largest sorority on campus and has many diverse women. Thier members pride themselves in being very active on campus as well as in the community. Sigma Kappa’s hold many positions on Inter-Greek Council as well as Panhellenic. They have members holding various positions in other organizations as well.
